‘happy for you to hold me’ is a multidisciplinary experience that will transform the waiting room into a soft playground for the month of May. The work is an invitation to indulge in the comfort of objects as we did in childhood, rejecting the shame that accumulates as we grow further away from childlike ways of seeing. Our ‘pillobs’ engage with conversations of nostalgia, femininity, and intimacy, welcoming embrace and comfort in the soft form. We encourage the impulse to touch and to play, explore the object and seek a sense of ease in its presence. They are an invitation for the senses, and we are happy for you to hold them.
𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘀 is a collective of two emerging creatives making on Gadigal land, formed in 2019 by 𝗞𝗮𝘆𝗹𝗲𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻 and 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗼. Rachel’s background in painting, illustration and performance, comes together with Kaylee’s experience in textile/jewellery design, spatial installation and performance writing, culminating in a diverse and multidisciplinary practice. This collaboration builds a playground of shared visions and art making driven by themes of play, nostalgia and identity.
